I couldn't finish Hatchet 3 (Decker Shado review)

Hatchet 3 is the 2013 horror film of the Hatchet series. It is a story about Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley and Brian Quinn is Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanderbilt plays Misty.

The utilization of special effects is the main feature of the film. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of makeup effects that are practical as well as sets. This is different from many horror movies today that rely heavily upon CG effects. It also features several truly terrifying moments.

Kane Hodder stands out as an intimidating character. The cast gives an impressive performance. It feels like an '80s slasher movie and the dialogue is somewhat tongue-in-cheek and campy. There are moments of humor in the movie that add humor to all bloody action.

However, due to the limited budget (reportedly only $1 million) many of the locations are re-used from previous films in the series. The same boat house was featured two times within the movie and a lot of the film (click now to read articles) feels like it's been recycled from previous films in the franchise. This can make it feel almost too familiar for those who have already watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2

Overall, Hatchet 3 was a excellent series. There was plenty of gory thrills, and there were several great performances by the cast.
